Project HW97. Custom work by Don Blocksidge and Shaun Hill
I decided make my favourite air rifle into a project. So I refurbished the stock with a high gloss tru oil finish and sent the body away for a custom shroud, catch and reblue courtesy of Shaun Hill of ISP airguns fame and of course it has been engraved by the master - Don Blocksidge. A thing of beauty in my eyes and something that will stay with me forever,

A while back I did a logo design for Quigley Hollow. My friend at Merlin Vinyls has made up a few things for me including this heat sensitive mug. Love it :)

Просмотров 7 тыс.6 лет назад
Just a quick session with the 22mm gun. Using JSB Exacts 8.44 grain. The rifle is nicely zero'd and is fitted with a Mamba Lite - my preferred scope. I have it set at 12 mag for the 62 yard targets.
Nick Gibney 22mm conversion for Weihrauch HW97
Просмотров 45 тыс.6 лет назад
This is the 22mm kit from Nick gibney for the HW97. It shoots really sweet as you can see from this video which shows the installation of the kit and the initial shots. I will be checking the power and finalising my thoughts on accuracy and consistency once the gun has bedded in but first impressions are very good.
Make your electric plane into a JOINTER - THE EASY WAY!
Просмотров 213 тыс.6 лет назад
I made a cradle for my electric plane to sit in and mounted a top that was perfectly level with the bed of the plane. A simple fence at a perfect 90 degrees makes for a very effective jointer. Refinements still to come on this device are a stop and start switch, a guard for the cutters and maybe some finger boards for holding the work. A nice cheap and easy solution to the problem.
Avoid end grain break out. End grain paring technique - THE EASY WAY
Просмотров 7 тыс.6 лет назад
This is how I used to teach people to avoid end grain break out while planing and how to hold a chisel when vertical paring. Make sure that your tools are sharp - refer to my videos on sharpening plane blades and chisels for easy and quick sharpening techniques.
Razor sharp blades - THE EASY WAY!

I used my bench mounted belt sander and home made jig to regrind a dreadfully ground plane blade I bought. I then show how to sharpen the blade the way I was taught 40 years ago. 3 different styles of sharpening.

Make RAZOR SHARP chisels with a belt sander THE EASY WAY!
Просмотров 90 тыс.6 лет назад
In this video I show how to re grind using my static belt sander. I made a simple jig to set the grind at 25 degrees and re ground a couple of decent make chisels that had been abused - they were actually in the corner of a garage for scrapping.
Re Finishing an Oilstone - make your tools razor sharp!
Просмотров 40 тыс.6 лет назад
I bought an old oilstone which had a fairly large amount of wear on the top side. The centre of the stone was worn down and it dipped in quite a lot. this video shows the process of how to re dress the stone so it is perfectly flat so that you can sharpen your flat edge tools such as chisels etc perfectly.

Improvement on the chalk stick target that I built. This one hads 4 pipe for chalk stick and the target holes are drilled at 12, 10, 8 and 6mm for a more challenging selection of targets. Again I have attached a couple of Micahs excellent stainless steel spinners to the sides. This is a fantastic target! I have had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon with it and plan on many more !
Paul Chell - preparation and re blacking service

I dropped my LGU off with Paul for him to prepare it for re blacking. He stripped the gun, made a superb job of the preparation for blacking, got it blacked and then re assembled the gun. Superb service! The results have to be seen to be believed..

Просмотров 22 тыс.7 лет назад
My 22mm gun developed a fault. Tony has been very keen to work with me in order to rectify any problems. In fact he even went an bought an HC with the shorter barrel to test his tune on in order to allow for the shorter barrel. Exemplary service.

What did you use to polish it at the end? I could not understand what you said.
After you wet sand with the tru oil, do you wipe it down before letting it dry?
I’m not sure I’d take that gun outside. That’s a piece of art.
so you french polish with tru oil instead of Shelac
How long you leave it to dry mate between coats
This is also available in 22 mine make to much noise and shoot not good

I know its 5 years since your video, I have used a similar method but using 'Elbow Grease' de-greaser sprayed on the paper as a lapping lubricant. This deals with any old oil and crud as it arises in the lapping progress. Even better soak it in de-greaser for a day or two before you start lapping to soften up the ground in dirt. Lapping with silicon carbide grits on a granite plate is much faster. btw. If you want some flat granite plates for lapping try your local ornamental stonemason [memorial/gravestone maker], To them, any offcuts or slightly damaged stones are useless scrap and I have had several great ones for free.... always worth a try. My best score to-date was a 3' x 2'6" x 3" rose granite plate that is flat to within a thou with an incorrect inscription on the bottom side - an expensive error on his part .. but a very useful tool in the workshop ! ...... Hope this helps someone ;<)
Steel wool is THE DEVIL. Scotchbrite only.
That piston seal is defiantly not the Weihrauch seal, the one you bought is a design of the original
Great video but the Torque screw is a T8 Dude
Great video how did you flatten you oil stone please
Thanks , trigger reset to a much safer position
Drop some pebbles or marbles into the can to make up for the volume you used, and you'll be able to use the bottle 6 months to 2 years from now without it all plasticizing and turning into goop.
How do you think it’ll go on knife handles
Please do this in a well ventilated room or the Pink Unicorn stood beside you will continue singing "Midnight the Stars and You" ?
Can this kit work work with the Vortek kit?
Would be interesting to see the fp of all 3 ,the last one looks like theres not much effort in cocking it ,is this because its lost power from the tune?
Magnifique, très belle réalisation. Bravo

Good job on that. I'm doing a custom stock right now. I got a hairline crack near the bolt and a dent near the fore end I'm getting out. I steamed it and improved it some but now I have to remove the finish to get it the rest of the way
Great video' very helpful
Is 120 grid sand paper considered fine grade sandpaper in your area? I'd call 120 pretty coarse and scratchy.
what was used in the final polishin step?
I live in the Netherlands and have a 21 joules hw97 is it to do with that spring to release the blok by hand and some pressure?
Brake cleaner really removes everything
Still using my metal piston sleave in my 77kse. Vmach lasts 👍
I’ve recently acquired two beautiful air rifles a boxed Walter lgu and last of the Birmingham made air rifles the Wembley longbow both mint con, I’ve put sights on both and had a little plink in the garden and I have to say that the quality and finish on the longbow is beautiful I just cannot put it down.
All my stones have a twin ! I like stones in pairs ! Just rub them together every now and then Like a inca pyramid builder ! Those people knew how to flatten great big stones a that was a ways down the road ! The way you are doing it fine too ! Also if my stone seems clogged up A soak in gasoline or some other light and cheap solvent works for me ! cheerio
Nice video mate👍🏻,What exact wood dye did you put in on if you don’t mind adding the link below👇🏻
Looks great, how much time did you have to wait between coats
Is there anywhere I can get one of those kits? Looked all over...
No difference. Id be disappointed if i paid out for this.
Great Video, it would be better if attach our night vision scope camera on...😀
Great video. Tip: Use a rubber band or hair tie to your applicator so you don't have to wrestle with holding the material together to stop the filling coming out.
Waste of money by the sound of it , but a very good video informing the public of not to waste money on , thankyou .
I used your exact method on a lap steel guitar I made. It turned out fantastic! THANKS! ruclips.net/video/_4wT47G_hi0/видео.htmlsi=ARql0r2F64KfKuie
30mm preload?, curse of HC version, only about 6mm on my mk1 full length.
Is blacking and blueing the same thing? I’m just starting a very early mk1 hw80 and I’m planning on doing exactly what you have
What make and where can I get the suppressor for the HW97 please..
Make your own ,the one on the 97k is just a hollow tube ,if you look up how HW moderators are made up ,it's just a few baffles and hair rolling pins covered in felt
Gorgeous ❤ Thank you for your help

I’m looking at sending my 97 to Paul but a bit worried about the shot cycle as have never shot a fast one
I’ve watched all of your RUclips videos on air rifles and shooting and sharpening tutorials and as I do a bit of both have found you a very good te@cher , so very much obliged
Where is the speed measurement with the chronograph, where is the target with the results? It is not a good and educational video, so anyone can make a video on YT and claim that their project has succeeded.
thank you for showing us how your rifles coming along ,Have you a link please for paul short pistons and how much does it cost please for the upgrade ,and the seal from Ausy ,thanks .
